Verbatae searches a folder of your documents and shows you the exact passage, with the file and page it came from.

Give it a folder, subfolders and all. It reads PDFs (scans too), Word, Excel, PowerPoint and email. Then search in plain words. You see what the documents actually say, not a summary.

Everything stays on your computer. No account, nothing uploaded, and your files are never changed.

Needs an Apple silicon Mac (M1 or later) and macOS 14 or later. About 2 GB.

Download for Windows

Needs Windows 11, 64-bit. An NVIDIA graphics card makes scanning faster but isn't needed.

Every computer needs 16 GB of memory (32 GB recommended), 200 GB free where the case is kept (500 GB recommended), and about 2 GB for the app.

Install on Mac

  1. Open the file you downloaded.
  2. Drag Verbatae onto Applications.
  3. Open Verbatae from Applications.

Install on Windows

  1. Open the file you downloaded and follow the three short setup steps.
  2. The Windows beta is unsigned, so Windows warns you first. Click More info, then Run anyway.

If it says Smart App Control blocked it, your computer only runs signed programs. Email [email protected].

Try it

  1. Make a new case and pick a folder.
  2. Press Scan.
  3. Search.

Beta

Verbatae is beta software, offered for testing and provided as is, without warranty. Check anything important against the original document before you rely on it. Words read from a scanned page are marked “scan” and can contain mistakes. Verbatae runs on your computer, reads your documents where they are and never changes them, and is designed to run fully air-gapped. Tell us what breaks or confuses you at [email protected].
